Varnish is a data caching platform, which is occasionally referred to as a caching HTTP reverse proxy. It’s a web app accelerator that can increase the loading speed of a website by up to one thousand percent, depending on its content. Whenever a visitor accesses any page on a website that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server if the visitor loads it again. Thus, the web browser request from the visitor is not processed by the web server and the page will open tremendously faster, since the Varnish platform can serve information many times faster than any server software. The end result is a considerably faster loading website, which leads to an improved visitor experience. In case any of the cached web pages is updated on the live Internet site, the info that Varnish stores in its memory is ‘refreshed’ as well, so the visitors will not see outdated data.

Varnish in Hosting

If you host your sites under a hosting account with us, you’ll be able to activate Varnish with several clicks of the mouse through your hosting Control Panel. The content caching platform comes as an optional upgrade with all our shared hosting plans and you can choose how many sites will use it and the total amount of system memory that will be available for the cached content. The two features that can be upgraded in the Control Panel’s Upgrades section are the number of instances and the amount of memory and they are not directly tied to each other, so you can choose whether you need plenty of memory for a single large-size site or less memory for several smaller ones. You can use the full potential of the Varnish caching platform in case the sites use a dedicated IP. Using the Control Panel, you can effortlessly start/reboot/discontinue an instance, clear the cached contents independently for each site which employs the Varnish platform or see an in-depth system log file.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All our semi-dedicated hosting come with Varnish by default, so you can use the web app accelerator and improve the speed of any site that you host on our semi-dedicated servers. You’ll get 64 megabytes of system memory dedicated to Varnish at no extra cost and you can create an instance with no more than a couple of mouse clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated server packages. In case you want more memory, the latter is available in increments of 32 MB through the Upgrades section of the Control Panel and it will be at your disposal right away. You can also order more instances as an upgrade, so you can decide whether a lot of data will be cached for one site or whether the available memory will be used by different sites. Hepsia will enable you to restart or to stop any instance, to view the system log file associated with it or to clear the cached data using 1-click buttons. To get the most out of Varnish, you can get a dedicated IP for the websites that will use it.

Varnish in VPS

The Varnish caching platform comes by default with all Linux VPS services that we’re offering on the condition that the Virtual Private Server is ordered with the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so you can optimize the work of your sites with only a few mouse clicks. The more powerful the package, the more system memory Varnish will have at its disposal, but even with a low-end plan, the platform will be able to utilize several hundred megabytes, so even if you manage several different sites, you’ll notice a substantial decrease in the server load and a significantly better page load speed. The platform will have to work for a little while while the visitors navigate the pages and once the site content has been cached, you’ll see the result. One of the pros of using Varnish is that a lower-end and less high-priced VPS package will do the same job as a more pricey one without the platform, so not only will your websites work better, but you’ll also save a certain amount of cash.

Varnish in Dedicated Hosting

If you order a dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you will acquire the Varnish platform at no additional fee and you’ll have total control over it through a quite user-friendly graphical interface – you will be able to start, to disable or to restart an instance, to browse an in-depth system log, to delete the cached files for any website and much, much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several gigabytes of memory at its disposal, so even if you have traffic-intensive sites with lots of visitors, you will notice the substantially faster site loading times and the reduced load on your dedicated machine. This will happen shortly after you start using Varnish, since it will need a certain amount of time to cache the website content that users browse. You can take full advantage of the platform’s capability in case the websites that are using it also use a dedicated IP address, but due to the fact that your dedicated server includes a couple of IP addresses by default, you will not need to pay anything on top of the monthly charge for the machine itself.
