Each registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a particular web hosting company. In this way, you've got both your website and your e-mails handled by the exact same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, such as A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (, while the second one shows which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you type a domain address in your web browser, your request is forwarded through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of another provider in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means you may have your website and your emails with two different providers if you wish.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every hosting service that we offer you, will permit you to view, change and set up A and MX records for every Internet domain or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you will be able to view a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their related records, so any update won't take you more than a couple of clicks. Setting up new records is just as simple if, for instance, you would like to use the email services of a different company and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default 2. Also you can set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. To put it differently, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it's going to contact the next one. With our innovative tool, you'll be able to manage the records of your domain names and subdomains easily even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and modifying the A or MX records for any of your domain names or subdomains is very easy if you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan through our company. The accounts are maintained by using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which has a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domains. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you could click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record will be as easy as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even if you have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not experience any issues if you want to direct your website or emails to another service provider while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you could also create additional MX records and set a specific priority in accordance with the recommendations of the new provider.
